About the filmmakers

TIM ASHBY (WRITER/DIRECTOR)

Before writing and directing Pale Trees, Tim wrote and directed Sometimes Sorrow Looks Like Elaine, Downsized, Surface to Air and co-wrote and directed The Gospel According to Bart. He is currently working on his play You Are Now Entering the Deep State, the novel Unsound, and the screenplay Feelings Have No Mass.

He is also the published author of the novella Strawberries and Sand

RICHARD WELLS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER)

Richard is the president of Deep Wells Productions and Deep Wells Distribution. He is the co-producer of the award-winning film The Gospel According to Bart and Pale Trees.

He has performed in over fifty stage productions, including those of the Southwest Shakespeare Company and a number of film projects.

He is currently represented by Signature Models and Talent

ROSALIE MICHAELS (MARTINA)

As the daughter of an Army Drill Sergeant, Rosalie grew up all over
the world. she found her love for performing when she was cast as Jiminy Cricket in the 5th grade production of Pinocchio. She continued performing in theater for many years, eventually leading
to pursuing acting as a career. Her film work is now extensive; most notably having supporting roles in Everything Must Go with Will Ferrell and The Player with Academy Award-winning actor Jean Dujardin.

Having worked with director Tim Ashby and producer Richard Wells in the past, Rosalie was entrusted with the lead role of Martina Dunne in Pale Trees

SHELBY WILSON ("LIV")

Phoenix native Shelby Wilson has experience working in film, commercials, theatre, and improv. Some of her work includes a national commercial for Safelite Autoglass and the feature film The Rite of Exorcism, available on Netflix. After graduating from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Psychology, she finally decided to make the move to Los Angeles. Her most recent work includes Zuma Beach Among Women and Pale Trees

 

 
 

SLADE HALL ("BILLY")

Slade has an interest in both stage and film. He thinks acting can
be a means of becoming familiar with the various aspects of oneself, ultimately toward the goal of enriching one’s understanding of all people. Also, it’s fun. Mr. Hall holds a bachelor’s degree in Theatre. He has appeared in a number of Arizona indies, including The Appearance of a Man and Deadfall Trail and Pale Trees. He currently resides in the Los Angeles area. 
 

 
 

PETE KELLY ("PERRY")

Pete Kelly was a beloved actor, musician and radio personality.
“Do what you love to do for a living and you’ll never work a day
in your life”; that was Pete’s philosophy in life. Pete leaves behind
a strong body of work and a community that loved and cherished him for his talent and generosity. A frequent collaborator of director Tim Ashby, Pale Trees marks one of his final performances, before his untimely passing, along with I'Mperfect, a selection of the 2017 Phoenix Film Festival. 
 

 
 

KERRY MCCUE ("MiCKeY")

Kerry's film credits include: The Gospel According to Bart, Blue Lake Massacre and Pale Trees. She has appeared in commercials for Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, and the Arizona Lottery. She also dabbles in voice-over, industrials and corporate events. Favorite theater credits include Lost in Yonkers for Actors Theatre, A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Southwest Shakespeare and Broken Glass for the North Coast Repertory Theatre. Miss McClue holds a BFA in Theater from Wayne State College where she graduated with honors. She was an apprentice at the Tony Award-winning Williamstown Theater Festival and currently resides in San Diego. 
 

 
 

JIM GULLIFORD ("BUTCH")

Originally from Chicago, Jim is a veteran of theater, film and television. He has performed in Raymond Shurtz’s The Audition Room at the Metro Arts Theater and starred in films like Sometimes Sorrow Looks Like Elaine, Downsized, Surface to Air, How to be a Hitman, The Gospel According to Bart before arriving to the pivotal role of Butch Redwing in Pale Trees

 

 
 

JAMAAL D. PITTMAN ("YES")

Jamaal D. Pittman was born and raised in the small town of Tarboro, NC, and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA. He starred in Got
2B Real
, a hit web series parodying the lives of R&B divas. The series has generated a cult following and has even been featured in Vibe Magazine as one of the Web’s must-see shows. He also had roles in Issa Rae’s web series The Choir and in Roomieloverfriends, and has booked several commercials. His latest film work is Pale Trees
